The Story

The Journey started January 1, 2001, when Shawna, our three children, and I moved to Surprise, Arizona, with a call on our hearts to start a new church. Supported by 10 other churches, we had financial backing but no people. I remember stepping out onto the driveway and thinking as I looked down the street: “What have I done? We don’t know anyone!” But one thing I was sure of. We were called. I had no idea at the time how important that was. Three months later, we still had no one who had joined us. I hiked to the top of the White Tank Mountains to have it out with God. I cried out that what He was asking of me was too hard! That it was impossible for me to start a church! I sensed God’s reply in my spirit, “It’s about time that you realized that. Now simply do what I have called you to do. Love people and help them to know what it means to follow me.” I came down from the mountains that day a new man. I might fail at starting a church, but I would trust the Lord and follow His purpose for my life. This has led me and my family on a faith journey that I will never forget and that continues to this day. Our greatest joy is that we don’t journey alone. God has brought over 200 people on this faith adventure with us. Their stories amaze, humble, and encourage me as we continue to wrestle out together what it means to follow Jesus Christ. The journey is not always easy, but we have made the decision to follow God’s purposes for our lives. As a matter of fact, it has become our purpose statement: “Helping people find and follow Jesus Christ.” If you are struggling to find God or are already walking the road of faith, we invite you to join us on the journey!
